365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge- Day 14

Hello! Day 14 is here!

Day 14: determine 5 words that describe your lolita style.
My style is kind of all over the place honestly. I have mostly sweet stuff, but I also own several classic pieces, and a gothic or two. It's hard to actually narrow it down to only 5 words, but this is probably the best list I can think of!
  1. Sweet- For my main wardrobe style
  2. Princess- My secondary style, I wear a lot of hime lolita, and own prints that would fit in this category.
  3. Food- Everything from chocolate to pancakes.
  4. Space- I have a weakness for prints with moons and stars in them.
  5. Cats- I don't own every cat print, but they dominate my wardrobe more than any other animal.

365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge-Day 13

Hello again! I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, and ended up going to the doctor's office, so I'll make this one a bit short so I can get some sleep. He's day 13 of the challenge!
Day 13: Read an essay by Novala Takemoto.
I'll admit, before this challenge, the only thing I've read from him is Kamikaze girls, but Lace a la Mode posted a handy link with some translations of his work. The one I chose in particular was purely because the title interested me. "A Letter to Young Ladies" is the piece in question. I felt like the writing was smooth, and had a nice tone, despite being translated from Japanese, so not entirely original. I'm definitely interested in reading some more of the works found on the archive page, though perhaps another day.

365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge- Day 12

Day 12, and still going! How is everyone doing on their challenges?
Day 12: Eat your meals on the nicest dishes you own.
To be quite honest, I don't have any nice dishes that get saved for special occasions or anything. I feel like I'm not at a point in my life where I'm able to keep such things around, because I have very little storage space. I do however have a couple teacups from my old collection sitting in my cupboard collecting dust! Instead of using fancy china for eating, I'll start using my fancy teacups more often! They definitely help me feel cuter while I'm enjoying my tea.

365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge- Day 11

Day 11 of the challenge is here!

Day 11: Learn how lace is made
This one is neat, because it focuses behind the scenes of lolita fashion. I've seen multiple tutorials on making lace using an embroidery machine, and have even tried making lace snowflakes on my own before, so I decided to look more into traditional lace making this time!

This video isn't a full tutorial on how to make traditional lace, but it gives you a pretty good idea on the subject. I think the amount of spools used to make it is crazy! I'd definitely get confused if I tried to pull it off myself. The background of the video also shows some of her finished work, and it all looks gorgeous. While it looks neat, I think I'll stick to machine-made lace myself, or go the super easy route and buy some lovely venice lace next time I have a project, haha.

365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge- Day 10

Hello! It's time for day 10 of the 365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge already!
Day 10: Transport to the storefronts of lolita stores you would like to visit in person.

This one is certainly an interesting challenge. I've been to Angelic Pretty in San Francisco already, and Baby the Stars Shine Bright in both San Fran, and New York. I guess next on my list would be BTSSB in Paris!
It looks so cute! And much more pink than I remember both of the stores here in the US being. While I would like to visit Japan someday, Paris is actually a bit higher on my list. I'm also not too picky on specific stores in Japan. I only wish Angelic Pretty still had a store in Paris as well!

Can we also appreciate how darn cute this little lounge is?

365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge- Day 9

Hi there! I was feeling a bit under the weather today, so I'm a bit late for Day 9! It's still technically the 9th here though, hehe.
Day 9: Design a coordinate based on a fairytale.
I almost went the super easy route and did The Little Prince or The Snow Queen, using the dresses I own based off of those stories, but I figure I would challenge myself a little at least! I wanted to wear the coordinate, but sadly did not have enough energy to, so I hope my floordinate is okay!
My next character idea was Gretel, from Hansel and Gretel, so I went with that! I used Sweet Cream House by Angelic Pretty to represent the house of sweets that witch used to lure in Hansel and Gretel. I would have preferred a scarf for headwear as opposed to the bowler, but I didn't have anything laying around that would have worked, so I thought it would be cutest with the theme! My browns look a bit off, but they seem to match much better in real life, I promise.

365 Lifestyle Lolita Challenge- Day 8

Another day, another challenge. Here we are in a new week!

Day 8: Share your favorite local lolita haunts.
I end up busy with work a lot, and haven't had as much time to dress up lately as I'd like to, but when I had more time on my hands, I wore the fashion out as much as I could. Usually, I wear it to my ballroom dance classes! I also enjoy testing out tea shops in my frills, and even just going on adventures to places I haven't been before. Museums and the Botanic Gardens are also top choices for me.
I used to work at a boba shop, and enjoy visiting again when I'm nearby. Since I wore lolita when I worked there, I like wearing it there again when I get the chance!
Sadly, I don't get to wear it as much outside of meets and the occasional convention, but I'm hoping to change that this year, and get dressed up more often just for the heck of it!
