EGL Wardrobe Post Day 19!

Hello! I've recently caught what seems to be a cold and I am midst of recovering. I'm hoping to finish up photos this weekend however!

Day 19: Your Favorite Brand Mascot

My favorite brand mascot is Lyrical Bunny! This is only a couple items I have with her on it, but there's more in my collection. I love her adorable little chubby cheeks!

A pocket mirror that I received from one of the tea parties in San Francisco!

An adorable rosette!

EGL Wardrobe Post Day 18!

Hello! Lately I've been on a huge nostalgia binge, reading old Gothic Lolita Bibles and browsing old coords on the internet. I finally made my way to daily_lolita to find the pictures with my sunflower JSK and it really hit me hard. I miss the old community and clothes and how special the fashion made me feel. It makes me remember why I got into this fashion in the first place. I'm glad that the community is growing and things are easier to find, but it all seems different. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Anyway, here's the next post for the wardrobe challenge!

Day 18: Your Most Versatile Item

I bought this in San Francisco this last summer and holy heck, it's super comfy and definitely the most versatile piece I own! I only wish they had a short sleeve version as well for the summer.

The ribbon is removable, so it can be switched out with different colors!

Cute detailing on the collar. Cutsews are definitely one of my favorite lolita items, as they're extremely comfy!

Do you have a versatile piece that works with everything? What about a piece so comfy you wear it all the time? Let me know what you think!

EGL Wardrobe Post Day 17!

Hi there! I'm still furiously kicking this challenge in the butt! I've never been great at blogging, as I'm mostly at a lost for how to word things or what to talk about. If you have any suggestions, please share them as I'm hoping to still occasionally post after the wardrobe challenge is over! Now on to the frilly things!

Day 17: Your Home-Made Collection (or indie brand!)

So in my baby-lita days, brand wasn't the easiest thing to access. My parents also thought anything over $25 for a dress was steep, so I wasn't able to buy much brand until sometime around the time I graduated High School. I used to sew pretty often however, and ended up making a lot of my dresses! I used to have more, but some I have since gotten rid of (including the super embarrassing ones).

This is the oldest piece I still have! It doesn't fit much of a petticoat unfortunately.

A simple blue underskirt. This was made to go under a bustle piece that I no longer have.

A high-waisted floral skirt. I have no idea why I put so much shirring in the wait, but at least it accommodates different sizing.

This piece was a final project for a sewing class I took! The pleats were a new concept for me.

A sunflower border-print JSK.

A kitten and Valentine themed underbust JSK. If you couldn't tell, I was quite the fan of pintucks.

As a bonus, here's a couple photos from a photoshoot I did with my sunflower JSK, straight from a daily_lolita post I made in 2012!

Do you make any of your pieces by hand? Do you have an impressive collection of Indie brand? Let me know what you think!

EGL Wardrobe Challenge Day 16!

Hello again! I've been busy planning for Paradiso as I decided to buy tickets at the very last minute. I'm usually extremely shy at lolita events, despite going to them for several years now. I'm hoping to make new friends though, as well as meet up with those I've met before! Let me know if you plan on going too!

Day 16: The most difficult item to track down.

I'm trying hard not to make any copycat posts here, but Bunny-Chan Pockets was truly the most difficult piece to track down! At first I didn't have a ton of interest in it, but a few years after its release (probably around 2010 or 2011?) I finally ended up falling for it!

Between then and now I've bid on three separate auctions, been scammed once, and hit the "Buy It Now" Button a couple seconds too late. The only other piece that even compares to the sweat and tears I put into finding this thing would be my Honey Cake Purse, which is a close second.

The bunny pin is the cutest thing! Some of the auctions I had seen for it didn't include the little guy, so I'm glad I managed to get one.

Real pockets!

I love scallop hems and wish they still made pieces that had them! I definitely want to add more to my collection.

Do you have a piece you've pined over for ages? Did you finally manage to get a hold of it? Let me know what you think!

EGL Wardrobe Challenge Day 15!

Howdy! We are now officially halfway through January and the Lolita Wardrobe Challenge!

Day 15: Your Favorite Detail

My favorite detail is definitely the lace! I'm especially fond of the custom lace that Angelic Pretty creates! When the lace matches the print, it's just the cutest thing. I'm quite the fan of ornate lace on old-school pieces as well.

The following photos may have already made their way around my blog, but it's a nice recap on how much detail really goes into these dresses!

Misty Sky

Toy Fantasy

Sugary Carnival

Babydoll JSK

Do you have a favorite detail or item in lolita? Let me know what you think!

EGL Wardrobe Challenge Day 14!

Good afternoon! I'm doing a bit better, and hopefully will be able to schedule a few days in advance to get through my hectic work week! I'm on to Day 14 of the EGL wardrobe challenge!

Day 14: Your Most Popular Motif

My favorite motif happens to be food! There's not a particular type of food that attracts me most, but I also seem to be drawn to the weirdest ones (Pancakes? Lemons?) I have lots of berry-themed pieces as well!

The following detail photos were taken for my "Most Popular Brand" theme, but I figure who wouldn't want to see them closer?

Milky Berry

Fresh Cherry

Miracle Candy

Diner Doll

Melty Ribbon Chocolate
Wonder Party

Sugary Carnival

Honey Cake

Melty Cream Donuts

Do you have a favorite motif or theme? What about any weird items you collect? Let me know what you think!

EGL Wardrobe Challenge Day 13!

Hello again! I'm just a tad late after falling ill yesterday and then having issues with my camera!

Day 13: The Oddball

I have a few classic pieces scattered within my wardrobe, but I feel like my Rose Stained Glass JSK from Innocent World seems to stick out the most. Unfortunately I forgot to actually take detail photos of it, but it's a gorgeous piece! I'm so used to coordinating sweet stuff that I feel like I have yet to do this piece justice. I hope to change that in the future!

EGL Wardrobe Challenge- Day 12!

Hello again! Welcome back for day 12 of the challenge. I give you props if you've stuck around this long!

Day 12: Your Craziest Hair Accessory

Pancake Beret! I made this guy in 2015 for a convention. I wore it paired with Honey Cake for a pancake themed coord!

Unfortunately you can't really tell it's a pancake when viewing the rest of the coord, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Do you have a crazy headpiece laying around? What about an entire crazy-themed coord? Let me know what you think!

EGL Wardrobe Post- Day 11!

Hello and welcome to the return of my photos of frilly things!

Day 11: The Oldest Item You Own (By Year Released)

I bought this Babydoll JSK several years ago on Mbok. After hours of searching through Lolibrary and HelloLace, I was unable to find this particular colorway for the red version as they all had the red lace rather than white. I inquired about it on a Free For All thread on livejournal, and with the help of a couple sleuthing individuals and Way Back Machine, they deducted that it pre-dated 2001!

I've had a few old-school pieces over the years, but this one has somehow managed to stay in the best condition (minus a couple little stains).

My favorite part of this piece is definitely the lace, It's so intricate!

Do you have a dinosaur hiding in your closet? How old is your "oldest piece"? Let me know what you think!

Lolita Wardrobe Challenge Day 10!

It's officially a third of the way through the lolita wardrobe challenge! I hope everyone else is holding up well!

Day 10: Your Best Bargain Find

I think I managed to pay a total of $40 after fees and shipping for this baby off Yahoo Japan a while ago? I had been hunting for oldschool style pieces so it was certainly a happy find! This year, I'm hoping to sell off some of my prints, and stock up on a few simpler and easy to wear pieces!

There's a little bit of wear, being an older piece. It's still in dang good condition though!

Have you managed to snag a bargain for your closet? Do you check sales often for a good deal? Let me know what you think!
